Iga Natalia Świątek is a Polish professional tennis player whose star has been on the rise in recent years. Born on May 31, 2001, in Warsaw, Poland, Świątek has a career-high Women's Tennis Association (WTA) ranking of No. 1. She is a four-time Grand Slam winner, having won the French Open in 2020 and 2022, the U.S. Open in 2022, and the Australian Open in 2023.
Świątek comes from a sporting family. Her father, Tomasz Świątek, is a former Olympic oarsman who represented Poland at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Her mother, Dorota Świątek, is a dentist.
Świątek began playing tennis at the age of six. She won her first professional tournament in Stockholm in 2016 and continued to excel in her junior career. In 2018, before turning 18, she won the girls' doubles at Roland-Garros and the singles title at Wimbledon. She also reached the semifinals of the Australian Open and the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open.
