The 2024 Paris Olympics got underway on Friday with a unique opening ceremony on the river Seine which divided opinion on a chaotic day in the French capital.
Set to be the first Olympic Games Opening Ceremony held outside a stadium, the 26 July celebration transformed the French capital into a stage for a spectacular show that featured everything from breakdancing to skateboarding.
