Dollywood Evacuated Due to Flash Flooding

Torrential Rain Causes Flash Floods and Road Collapse

Dollywood, Dolly Parton's theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, was forced to evacuate visitors on Sunday due to severe flash flooding caused by heavy rainfall. A strong thunderstorm brought heavy rain, causing creeks and rivers to swell within the park and surrounding area.

Evacuated Guests and One Injury

The evacuation was ordered as flash floods inundated portions of the park, leaving guests stranded in several areas. Video footage showed visitors wading through muddy water and running to higher ground. According to reports, at least one person was injured and treated by emergency responders.

Pigeon Forge Police reported that a local road at the park's entrance collapsed, cutting off access to the park from that direction. The evacuation was carried out safely and swiftly, with all park visitors and staff accounted for.

Park Closure and Ongoing Cleanup

Dollywood remains closed today, Monday, July 30th, as crews continue to assess the damage and clean up the park. Park officials have not yet announced a reopening date, but they are working diligently to ensure the park is safe and ready for visitors once again.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of staying alert during severe weather events. Guests should always be aware of their surroundings and follow the instructions of park staff or emergency responders.
