Grant Williams: From Boston to Charlotte
The Celtics' Loss is the Hornets' Gain
The Dallas Mavericks have acquired restricted free agent Grant Williams from the Boston Celtics in a three-team trade, the team announced Thursday.
Williams, 24, was a key piece for the Celtics, averaging 7.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 165 games over the last three seasons. He was also a solid defender, with a defensive rating of 104.9 last season.
The Celtics will receive a first-round pick in 2025 and a second-round pick in 2023 from the Mavericks in the deal. The Utah Jazz will receive a second-round pick in 2026 from the Mavericks.
Williams is expected to start at power forward for the Hornets, who are looking to make a playoff push after finishing 43-39 last season.
