2nd Miracle Approved: Carlo Acutis, "Patron Saint of the Internet," to be Canonized

Vatican Green-Lights Saint-Making Miracle

Blessed Carlo Acutis, who died of leukemia at the age of 15, will soon become a saint after a second miracle attributed to him was recognized by the Vatican.

Carlo Acutis passed away on October 12, 2006, after a brief battle with leukemia. He was born in London, England, on May 3, 1991, to Italian parents. Despite his young age, Carlo was a devout Catholic who spent much of his time volunteering and helping the needy. He also had a passion for computers and used his skills to create websites that promoted Eucharistic miracles and the Catholic faith.

In 2010, Carlo was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI, which is the first step towards sainthood. The second miracle attributed to Carlo, which paved the way for his canonization, involved a young boy in Brazil who was cured of a rare pancreatic disease after his family prayed to Carlo. The Vatican's Congregation for the Causes of Saints verified the miracle, and Pope Francis approved it on May 23, 2024.

Carlo Acutis's canonization date has not yet been announced, but he is expected to be declared a saint in the coming months. He will become the first "patron saint of the internet" and an inspiration for young Catholics around the world.
